Thermally Conductive Silicone Compounds

Our thermally conductive silicone compounds offer compression resistance and durability for a wide range of applications. Each formulation is designed to meet specific performance requirements, from thermal recovery time to specific application compliance.

With durometers ranging from Shore 40A to 90A and surface finishes available in both as-molded and precision ground, our silicone compounds provide the versatility needed when traditional tooling and materials do not meet your application demands. To form our silicone tooling, including unbonded sheets, we utilize precision-machined molds to define the dimensions and tolerances of the finished product. For tighter tolerances on surface finish, we offer precision grinding as an option.

Compared to extruded silicone materials, our silicone layer offers increased longevity, tighter tolerances, and more consistent material properties throughout. This is due to our compression-based method of manufacture. Whether it’s an unbonded sheet or a molded gasket, our silicone is compressed and vulcanized.

Silicone Formulations

We offer a selection of distinct silicone options, each meticulously engineered to fulfill specific performance criteria. Our silicone components are normally applied to a metal base to form specific tooling. Examples include seal heads and bars, rollers, decorative dies, and more. Be sure to explore common examples of silicone coated tooling to learn more.

Please note: We do not sell uncured compounds. All silicone is sold as a finished, fully vulcanized product.

Flex Silicone

Our Flex silicone compound is our most commonly used option as it offers thermal conductive properties as well as resistance to compression stresses. With a durometer range of Shore 40A to 90A, you have options depending on your application. For a non-marring robotic gripper, a softer durometer may work best. For a food sealing application, a harder durometer may deliver a longer life. This material has a distinct reddish-orange color.

For most applications, this compound delivers great results.

Rapid Silicone

For applications that demand higher heat retention and recovery, our Rapid compound offers similar compression-resistant properties to Flex, but with improved thermal conductivity and rapid heat recovery. For improved thermal properties, a firmer compound is needed. The durometer for this option ranges from Shore 60A to 90A. This compound has a brown color throughout the silicone layer.

For heat seal applications, where speed and temperature stability are a priority, Rapid will deliver the heat needed to seal and recover before the next sealing cycle. This silicone formulation is often used within semi-automated or fully automated systems.

Max Silicone

For maximum heat retention and stability, our Max silicone is a potential option. The increased heat retentive properties result in a high durometer range of Shore 85A to 95A. The silicone flexibility and compression properties are also impacted, resulting in a silicone surface that is more prone to wear and tear. Like our Rapid silicone, this compound has a brown color.

Sharing your application specifics will help us evaluate if this compound is a good fit or not.

FDA Silicone

Featuring the same thermal conductivity and compression resistance as our Flex formulation, our FDA silicone is Food Grade Compliant. Durometer options include Shore 60A and 80A. This formulation is an excellent choice for Food and Beverage applications where direct contact may occur. This compound has a similar reddish-orange color to our Flex silicone.

Medical applications also benefit from this FDA compliant option.

Teflon Bonded Option

Our Teflon™ (PTFE) direct bonded silicone is engineered to provide an alternative to wrapping heat seal tooling with Teflon™ tape. Designed to be more robust than tape, our Teflon layer lasts 10x longer in production, significantly reducing changeover and maintenance time while enhancing seal integrity. This grey colored coating helps extend the life of our silicone with up to 7x the life space of extruded silicone options.

With an excellent Teflon-to-silicone bond, this option provides an effective solution for sealing package inconsistencies caused by food contamination, thick or multiple layers of film, product dust, or fine particles.
